Was there a board motion that decided this?
DNC August news: There will no longer be a Cop Watch at the market. Police are going to continue to target as many as they can for minor offences (smoking, vending, etc) and ticket them with $250 fines. So vendor at your own risk. This is an order from Jon and Rolland.
Terry, There is no such ‘order’. The street market is now legal and has city authorized permits both for the street and for the park. We will continue to be vigilant against police harassment of our vendors, but will do this by building a relationship with members of the VPD who understand the value that the market has in the DTES and the positive role that it can play in the community. Both Jacek and I have discussed this with Jen and welcome her to the market to do outreach and to build relationships with vendors. Please do spread false rumours. Please be a responsible citizen. Thank you.
