DNC April General Meeting: Focus on police brutality & harassment

DNC MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING
SATURDAY APRIL 7
DODSON HALL
(25 E Hastings, beside the bottle depot)
2:30-3pm: Food serving and screening of “The Beat”
3-4:30pm: Meeting

For the first half of the meeting come take part in a group-critique of “The Beat” reality TV show, discuss police harassment and brutality with other DNC members, and find out about city plans to push low-income people out of DTES alleys for boutique shops & shoppers. (Look for an article by the same name on page 7 of the DT East Newspaper)

Other discussions planned for the meeting include:
- Update and challenges in DTES Local Area Planning with the City
- Launch a 4-week campaign to stop condos at the Pantages theatre site, and;
- Forming a homeless shelter residents’ bill of rights

This meeting will not have break-out group discussions of each campaign and committee that DNC is working on so that we can emphasize the campaigns that are most urgent this month.
